Better hygiene

We use water to clean everything else, so why not when we go to the toilet? Not only does it provide a much more refreshing feeling, washing with water is also a much more gentle and hygienic way of cleaning, and has proven health benefits.

FAQs

What is a shower toilet?

A shower toilet (sometimes called a bidet toilet or a washlet) combines the functionality of a toilet with the cleaning properties of a bidet. Cleaning with warm water after using the toilet provides an increased sense of well-being and cleanliness and has already become the norm in many places across the world including Asia, the Middle East and South America.

Why buy a shower toilet?

Using a shower toilet helps you to maintain that fresh, just showered feeling. Washing with water after using the toilet has great health benefits too and they are great for the environment because you use less toilet paper.

How does a shower toilet work?

In its simplest form, a shower toilet works by spraying a gentle stream of water which can be turned on and off either by a button or a handle. Certain shower toilets, such as the V-Care, offer additional features, such as a front and rear washing and being able to alter the position of the water jet, the water temperature and drying intensity.

How do you install a shower toilet?

VitrA Aquacare shower toilets can be easily installed in place of your existing WC as there are no additional connections required. To install a VitrA V-Care shower toilet you will need additional electrical and water connections. All of our V-Care and Aquacare shower toilets are wall-hung and will therefore need to be installed using a wall-hung frame. You can watch our video for a full guide on how to install a V-Care shower toilet.

Are shower toilets suitable for everyone?

Yes. Shower toilets are particularly beneficial for pregnant women, those with limited movement, people who are less abled and those who suffer from intimate skin irritations.

Can I still use the shower toilet if the power goes off?

Yes. Our Aquacare shower toilets are not connected to the electrical supply, and therefore can be used regardless of whether there is power or not. Our V-Care shower toilets are connected to the electric supply, however in the event of a power cut you can still use the V-Care like a conventional toilet using toilet paper, activating the flush via the flush plate and manually opening and closing the seat.

If the electricity supply fails during use, water streaming, heating, air purification and the auto open/close will stop immediately. If the nozzle is in use it will remain in the same position but the water will stop. Once the electricity is restored you will need to press the stop button to reset the nozzle.

What temperature is the water?

The temperature of the water from our Aquacare WCs can be controlled by the stop valve. The thermostatic version ensures the temperature remains consistent, regardless of water being used elsewhere in the house. With the V-Care you can choose between 5 different water temperatures which range from 30-42 °C.

Can children use shower toilets?

Yes, shower toilets are safe for children too. Our V-Care shower toilets include a ‘child mode’ function. The seat on the V-Care has a sensor that activates the shower toilet functions when there is weight on it. Sometimes the sensor does not detect the light weight of a child and therefore the functions do not activate. By using the ‘child mode’, the V-Care knows to activate the functions.

What is the difference between VitrA V-Care and VitrA Aquacare?

Our V-Care shower toilets offer the ultimate bathroom experience, with an extensive range of features including adjustable water and drying temperature. The jet nozzle position is also adjustable as well as the jet intensity. The seat is heated and air purification is automatically activated when the toilet is in use. All of the functions are accessible by the remote control making the experience virtually hands-free.

VitrA Aquacare shower toilets have a subtle, integrated bidet function. Aquacare is available in our M-Line, Sento and Integra ranges, providing a range of different designs as well as thermostatic and non-thermostatic options. Aquacare shower toilets do not require an electrical connection and thanks to the innovative integrated air breaker, they present absolutely no risk of contamination to the drinking water supply.

What is the guarantee on VitrA shower toilets?

Our shower toilets have a guarantee of 2 years.

How are VitrA shower toilets operated?

To activate the water jet on our Aquacare shower toilets, simply turn the handle which will be located either on the side of the toilet or on the wall.

Our V-Care shower toilet can be operated by the buttons on the side of the WC or by using the remote control, depending on the functions required. The basic functions of front and rear cleaning can be operated by the buttons on the side of the WC, and the remote control enables you to fully utilise all of the features to personalise the washing experience .

What is included within the VitrA shower toilet packages?

Our Aquacare shower toilets come with the toilet, pre-assembled and integrated air breaker, soft-close toilet seat and toilet cover. Our M-Line thermostatic Aquacare WC also comes with the stop valve. For the other models, you will need to buy the stop valve separately (there is a round version and a square version) and the concealed part that enables the handle to be built into the wall.

Our V-Care shower toilets come as a complete set, with the toilet, soft-close toilet seat and cover and remote control. Both Aquacare and V-Care products will need a flush plate to activate the flush buttons and a concealed cistern.

What standards do VitrA shower toilets meet?

VitrA Aquacare shower toilets are compliant with BS EN1717 regulations, which guarantee that there is no risk of contamination with the drinking water supply. VitrA V-Care shower toilets are insulated to IPX4 standards which means there is no danger of electrical parts coming into contact with water. Electronic circuits are insulated to IP67 standards. VitrA V-Care products also conform to the following global and European standards: BS EN1717, BS EN13079, CE, DVGW, KIWA, ETA, CSTB, SINTEF, SITAC, W270 and KTW.

How do I clean a VitrA shower toilet?

All of our shower toilets are very easy to clean as they have been designed with the VitrA Rim-ex technology. The Rim-ex design eliminates the rim of the WC where harmful bacteria and micro-organisms gather and multiply, resulting in a toilet that’s 95% more hygienic.

All of our shower toilets also have the VitrA Hygiene coating. This unique glazing process prevents germ multiplication and offers superior hygiene.

The nozzle on our V-Care shower toilet also self-cleans itself before and after every use.

What happens if there is an issue with my VitrA shower toilet?

Should you have an issue with your shower toilet within the warranty period, we have an experienced technical support team who are able to make home visits to fix the issue. We can also offer technical support over the phone as our shower toilets are easily accessible for maintenance. For example, to access the VitrA Aquacare bidet function (located below the toilet seat) you can remove it with one simple click.

What are the features of V-Care?

The V-Care Essential model includes the following features.

When should I change the air purifying filter on my V-Care?

The filter on the V-Care is designed to be detachable so you can replace it and prevent dust accumulating. We recommend you change the filter every two years.

What if the V-Care remote control doesn't work or I drop it into water?

We recommend to remove the batteries and dry the V-Care remote control with a towel or similar. Place the remote control in a cup filled with dry rice (to absorb humidity), and after two hours replace the batteries. If this does not solve the problem please contact the retailer where you bought the V-Care and they can arrange for a replacement remote control to be provided.

How do I decalcify my V-Care?

We recommend decalcifying your V-Care every two years. To do this, simply open the toilet lid and seat and put on the water shield that is included within the V-Care package. Press the water temperature and seat temperature buttons on the remote control for 3 seconds. The remote control will beep, signifying the start of the decalcification process. At this point the nozzle will extend and spray water for 20 seconds. When it has finished it will beep twice. You can then open the decalcification cover (located at the base of the toilet seat) and pour in the bottle of Durgol descaler liquid using the funnel. Remove the funnel, close the cover and leave for three minutes. There will then be another single beep as the V-Care performs rear washing for 40 seconds followed by female washing for 40 seconds, and finally nozzle cleaning for 40 seconds. This cycle is repeated 3 times. When the decalcification process is completed, the nozzle retracts and the beeping stops to signify the end of the decalcification process.
